Privacy Policy
INsperience is a location-verified social app for In-N-Out fans, operated by FlemTech LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. We keep it short because we collect little.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Email address — used only to sign you in. INsperience is passwordless: we email you a one-time code instead of storing a password.
- Username (handle) — the public name you choose, shown on your posts and the leaderboard.
- Age range — one of under 13, 13–15, 16–17 or 18+, and whether it came from your app store or from you. We never store your birthday. See Children & age.
Location
- Precise location (GPS) — read at the moment you create a post, so we can verify you're physically at an In-N-Out (the geofence). We store the store number your post is tied to. We do not track your location in the background or build a continuous location history.
Photos
- Photos you post — the food photo you attach to a post, which is shown to other users in the feed.
- History Import (optional) — if you choose to backfill past visits, you select photos from your library and we read their embedded date and GPS metadata to figure out which store and when. This only happens for photos you explicitly select, and imported visits go through a manual review before they count.
Activity
- Content & social graph — your posts and captions, who you follow, and stats we derive from them (locations visited, post counts, your IN score and rank).
- Push notification token (optional) — if you allow notifications, your device gives us a token that lets us send it notifications (new followers, posts from people you follow). It identifies the app install, not you, and we delete it when you sign out or delete your account.
- Basic technical data — standard server logs (e.g. request time, app version) needed to run and secure the service.
Photo metadata
Photos can carry hidden metadata such as the exact time and GPS coordinates where they were taken. We remove that metadata from every photo you post before anyone else can see it, and keep only the resized image. The store you posted from is still shown on the post — that's the point of the app.
2. How we use your information
- To run the core feature: verifying you're at a store and publishing your post to the feed.
- To send you one-time sign-in codes by email.
- To send the push notifications you've allowed. Choose which ones in Settings & Privacy → Notifications.
- To build feeds, profiles, the leaderboard, and your stats.
- To prevent abuse and keep location verification honest.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. What other users can see
INsperience is social by design. Your username, Burgatar avatar, posts, photos, captions, the store each post was made at, and your leaderboard stats are visible to other users of the app. Your email address is never shown to other users.
4. Service providers
We share data only with the providers that run the app on our behalf, under their own terms:
- DigitalOcean — server hosting and the database.
- Cloudflare — DNS, content delivery, and R2 object storage for your photos.
- SMTP2GO — delivery of sign-in code emails.
- Google Maps — displaying store maps inside the app.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivering push notifications (via Apple's push service on iPhone). It receives your device's push token and the notification text.
5. Data retention & your choices
- Retention — we keep your account and content until you delete them. Database backups age out within 30 days.
- Deletion — delete your account any time in the app (account menu → Settings & Privacy → Delete account), or see how to delete without the app. It removes your account, posts, photos, stats, follows and blocks. You can also edit captions and delete individual posts from the ⋯ on each one.
- Notifications — turn each kind on or off in Settings & Privacy, or turn them all off in your device settings.
- Location — you can revoke location permission in your device settings at any time; posting requires it, but the rest of the app still works.
6. Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, passwordless sign-in, and access controls on our infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and keep our footprint small.
7. Children & age
INsperience accounts are for people 13 and older. When you create an account, the app asks your device for your age range: Apple's Declared Age Range on iPhone, or Google Play Age Signals on Android. If your device doesn't share one, we ask for your birth month and year. We keep only the resulting range (under 13, 13–15, 16–17 or 18+) and where it came from. We use it only to decide whether you can create an account and to meet age-assurance laws. It is never shown to other users, used for advertising or analytics, or shared with anyone.
If you're under 13, we don't create an account and we delete the sign-in code we emailed you, along with your email address. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
